The Lawyers of Tow Law Town travel to The Riverside on Saturday to take on a Park View AFC looking for a fifth consecutive home league win. A win that would seem them stay in the playoff positions in at least 5th place in the table.
For Tow Law it's a game where they have to start looking for points to pull away from their perilous position which is currently second from bottom. Not a place they would have expected when they were relegated last season from Division 1.
The Lawyers have four wins three draws and 16 losses in their 23 games played for 15 points. Only 16 goals scored with Ashley Adams their top scorer with three and they have conceded 46. It's clear to see where their issues and problems lie.
This week Tow Law have changed their Management Team. Dion Raitt and his coaching staff have left the Club and have been replaced by former Crook Town gaffer Matty(ie) Thompson who recently was at Blyth Town as co-manager.
Thompson has brought in Paul Gardiner, Steve Pickering and Paul Goldsborough as his coaching staff. They'll be looking to bring that 'new manager bounce' to the Club and turn around the team's fortunes.
Tow Law's recent form has seen them lose seven and only beat bottom club Esh Winning in their last eight games. That 1 – 0 win over Esh completing the double over the division’s bottom side.
Park View will be wary of that boost a new manager often gives to their new team and are looking for a double over The Lawyers in the league having defeated them at The Ironworks Ground back on the 9th of August 2 – 0.
That was a tight game with late goals from Dylan Robson and Charlie Loveday finally breaking Tow Law resistance and giving Park View three points. More of the same would be welcomed for PV.
Prior to Tuesday night’s Ernest Armstrong Second Division Cup loss to Sunderland RCA on penalties they had been on a good run. They had recorded a fourth successive win home against Billingham Synthonia and were going well.
Unfortunately, Park View had two games postponed due to the weather which halted their progress somewhat and meant they went into Tuesday at Sunderland RCA following an enforced break.
Crashing out for the third time this season in a cup competition via penalties. They'll be pleased to be back in league action as they continue to strive for those coveted end of season playoffs.
They will have top scorer Stephen Siyanbola available again after suspension ruled him out against RCA and are sweating on the fitness of influential midfielder Brandon Young.
Kick-off at The Riverside is at 3:00pm.
