Match Preview - Durham United (H) - Ebac Northern League Division 2 - Friday 5th December 2025 - 19:30pm

by Jeff King

Park View once again are the hosts for an Ebac Northern League Division 2 match-up at The Riverside. This time on a Friday night under the lights with Durham United the visitors. A seventh successive home league game for PV.

The previous six brought four wins one defeat and one abandonment. Add-in another home win and a draw at Newcastle University and Park View have only one defeat in their last seven league games and sit fifth in the table.

It would surely have been one defeat in eight had last Saturday's home game against Tow Law Town not been abandoned with Park View 3 - 0 up at half-time. PV did however go out of the Ernest Armstrong Cup during this run.

But even then it was on penalties after a 2 - 2 draw in the 90 minutes. An excellent run of form that they'll be hoping to increase and record their fifth successive home league win.

Durham United are in their first season as a Northern League club after their promotion from the Wearside League at the end of last season.

They currently sit 16th in the table with 8 wins 4 draws and 13 losses from their 25 games played and have 25 points having had three points deducted for fielding an ineligible player earlier in the season.

They have scored 39 goals and conceded 57 which is the second most in the Division. Their current form has been very much up and down with 3 wins and 4 losses in their last 7 games.

They have lost their last two games 5 – 0 at Billingham Syntonia and 3 – 0 at home to Alnwick Town last Saturday. PV and United met back on the 2nd August early in the season and fought out a thrilling 3 – 3 draw.

United going one-up, PV equalising then United went 3 – 1 in front. But two very late goals rescued a point for Park View.

Durham’s top marksman this season is Phil Kay with 16 goals overall including a 3rd best 14 netted in the League whilst Stephen Siyanbola is the leading scorer for Park View with 7 league goals.

Kick-Off at The Riverside is at 7:30pm in what should be an entertaining game between two young sides that like to get the ball down on the pitch and play attacking football.
