Match Preview - Sunderland RCA (A) - Ebac Northern League Division 2 - Tuesday 9th December 2025 - Kick-Off 19:30pm

by Jeff King

Amazing enough these two sides have not been able to complete a game since they met in an Ernest Armstrong Division 2 Cup 1st Round clash on November 25! A game that ended in a 2 - 2 draw with RCA going through 4-1 on penalties.

Sunderland RCA were on a really superb run of form going into that game. Until they bumped into Ryton & Crawcrook Albion. RCA had won four league games in a row and then hosted Ryton in the Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup tie.

The visitors coming away with a tremendous 5 - 4 victory then after another RCA league win to make it five in a row in it was Ryton again who spoiled the run with a 1 - 0 home win over RCA.

That run though of five wins and a single loss did propel RCA away from the danger zone and comfortably towards middle table safety. They currently have 33 points from 24 games with 10 wins 3 draws and 11 losses.

They have scored 34 league goals and conceded 35 with Aiden Stanton being their top marksman with 13 goals in all competitions including 11 in the league. Dennis Knight is their next best scorer with 7 in the league.

Stanton actually scored both goals for RCA in that Cup-Tie but has since moved on to Easington Colliery in the First Division so RCA have a big hole to fill up front in their squad.

Park View in contrast will come into the game on the back of four straight home wins and have won seven drawn one and lost only two of their last ten. They are in 5th place with 13 wins 5 draws and 5 defeats from 23 games for 44 points.

They've started to score more goals recently and actually netted 3 times in the 45 minutes they managed to play since the Cup game but sadly they did not count as the contest was abandoned at half-time with PV leading 3 - 0.

Stephen Siyanbola is Park Views leading marksman at the moment with 7 netted all in the league whilst fellow forward Charlie Loveday has 6. Nathan Conroy also has 6 but he has left the Club recently to join Chester Town.

Park View continue to be miserly when it comes to defending in the and have only conceded 19 goals in the league so far which is the second best in the division at present.

The two sides also met early this season in August at The Riverside. It was a solid 2 - 0 win for PV on the night with goals from Loveday and Sam Beattie with Dennis Knight being sent off with a straight red card.

So, a fascinating encounter lies ahead, weather permitting !!! Bot sides hungry for points to consolidate or improve their placing in the table. Kick-off at Meadow Park, Ryhope is at 7:30pm.
