Match Preview - Chester-le-Street Town (H) - Ebac Northern League Division 2 - Saturday 4th April 2026 - Kick-Off 15:00pm

by Jeff King

The last home game of the 2026/27 at The Riverside for Park View AFC and it could hardly be a bigger game or tougher task. Not quite coming to town as they are already there are Chester-le-Street Town who are Saturday's visitors.

Derby Day and a massively important game for both sides. A win for the home team would mean a huge boost to their chances of staying in the play-off positions and probably ending Town's hopes.

The converse of that being an away win would really put Town back firmly in the play-off picture and severely dent Park View's chances. It's that important a game that a draw is probably a result that neither team will want nor need.

Both teams playing flat-out to go for a win should make for a dramatic titanic tussle and one that is very much eagerly from both sides of the fence. It could be a very significant day indeed.

Town come into the game on a recent run that has seen them win two drawn two and lost two of their last six games. However, the two losses along with a draw see them currently on a 3-game non-winning streak.

They currently sit in seventh place with 20 wins 5 draws and 13 losses from their 38 games garnering them 65 points. They have scored 64 goals and conceded 43 with the prolific dangerous Scott Robson netting 19 of those they’ve scored.

Park View are occupying the last play-off position sitting in fifth place with 21 wins 10 draws and 9 defeats giving them 73 points from 40 games. They have scored 57 goals and conceded 33. Stephen Siyanbola their top scorer with 12.

They defend their own home turf on a decent run of form having not lost in six games with three wins and three draws. They also won the last derby 1-0 thanks to a Ben Gallagher header at Town's home on The Moor.

However, everyone knows that figures and statistics count for nothing on derby days like these. Perhaps performances also matter little. It’s all about the result and local pride and it’s sure to be a massive occasion on Saturday.
