An intriguing game is in prospect at The Villa, Boldon on Tuesday night when Park View AFC travel to take on Boldon CA. The stakes for the winner's, if there is one, being key to progressing each side's season.
Park View are in 6th Position in the table just outside the playoff places and a win would likely move them back into those positions. For Boldon a win would move them above Park View and boost their own playoff hopes.
But there is a massive sub-plot to the game involving those guiding CA on the side lines. After a very solid and promising start to the campaign 6 wins 5 draws and only 3 defeats had Tuesday's hosts comfortably in the top half of the division.
It was results and performances like that under Management Team David Palmer and Dan Crooks that were making others sit-up and take notice. Especially after the duo took over a struggling side last season late on.
Boldon CA were looking like possible relegation contenders but Palmer and Crooks turned things around and they finished comfortably mid-table under their stewardship and had started to make progress again this season.
But on Sunday it was announced that Palmer and Crooks had left The Villa to take over the reins at First Division Whickham FC and Boldon were once again looking for management.
On Monday it was announced that former player, captain and player/coach Chris Spence would be the new man at the helm and his Assistant will be Daniel Johnson. They take charge for the first time against Park View.
Boldon sitting 9th in the table lost in The FA Vase on Saturday 3 - 0 away at NL Division One Newcastle Benfield. This followed on from a 3 - 1 defeat against Yarm & Eaglescliffe which had followed a 1 - 1 draw at Alnwick Town.
Their results have seen them garner 23 points with 23 goals scored and 18 conceded. Jack Robertson is their top marksman with 6 goals in the League whilst Scott Purvis has netted 4 times.
For Park View they have had inconsistent results. A 2 - 0 home defeat at the hands of Alnwick Town was followed up by a gritty hard-fought 1 - 0 away win at Prudhoe YC Seniors with Charlie Loveday scoring his 5th goal of the campaign.
It means in the League PV have 7 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats for a total of 25 points giving them that 6th placed position. They did like Boldon go out of the FA Vase on Saturday at Eccleshill United.
The game finished 1 - 1 in the 90 minutes but Park View after missing the target with all four of their taken penalties saw Eccleshill convert two of their four taken to go through 2 - 0 on penalties.
So, both teams with every thing to play for in The League. Will it be 'new manager bounce' for Boldon or will Park View take advantage of the shake-up in the home circumstances and take another away win?
Get to The Villa, Boldon on Tuesday night for a 7:30pm kick-off to find out.
