A new season and a new chapter for Park View AFC as they open their 2025/26 Ebac Northern League campaign with a trip up the Northumberland Coast. They take on Division 2 new boys AFC Newbiggin in their first league fixture.

Having changed their name from Chester-le-Street United to better reflect their relationship with the Academy at Park View, the first team are looking to at least emulate last season's superb 4th placed League finish.

Many players have returned from last season although one or two regular first-team squad members have either left or are unavailable through injury they still take a strong looking squad to the Newbiggin Sports and Community Centre.

The team will be lead again by last season's Captain and Player of the Season Dylan Wilkinson who celebrated his 21st birthday this week. Up front it'll be Stephen Siyanbola who they'll be looking to too bring goals to their cause.

Park View AFC delighted to see last season's 27 goal top scorer back in their ranks. After speculation that he may be seeking pastures new he's decided to return and netted the first goal against Hartlepool United in midweek.

Reyhan Grimaud also netted as Park View ended their pre-season with a 2 - 0 win and with Alex Clark and Riley Everett unavailable the utility man will likely line-up alongside skipper Wilkinson at the heart of the defence.

AFC Newbiggin are somewhat of an unknown quantity and finished their pre-season preparations with a last-minute 3 - 2 over Bay Plastics Northern Alliance Premier Division side Cramlington United.

'The Biggin' have enjoyed a remarkable journey since their formation in 2010. Born out of the collapse of Newbiggin Central Welfare, the club was created to keep the town's footballing flame alive.

They began life in the North Northumberland League in 2019 before moving to the Northern Alliance where they achieved promotion to the Premier Division within two seasons.

Their superb climb saw them finish second in the Premier Division last campaign and earned them an invitation to join the Northern League which they gladly accepted.

The club has been based at Newbiggin Sports Centre since its inception with significant upgrades made to the ground in 2023. Those improvements meaning they were able to make the step-up to Step 6 of the FA Pyramid.

Park View who are looking forward to the challenge of 'The Biggin' would like to thank Honesty Utility Group for their kind sponsorship of The Club this season. Honest Utility are specialists in finding customers great deals on utility services.
